An open letter to my husband and best friend, Indy

Thank you for being so wonderfully patient with me since my surgery.

I have really appreciated your help and even your reminders not to do too much too fast.

You won my heart all over again when you walked into the hospital room with a that silly "Soft Kitty" stuffed animal. Hearing that song is one of the few memories I have after the surgery and I'm so glad that I do remember it.

Only my best friend would have known that I would have preferred a silly singing kitten over flowers or chocolates. I know you won't be surprised that I squeezed that paw many times during that night in the hospital, just to hear the song over and over again.

Thank you for the reminder that, although the scars are small, what was done inside was still major surgery. I've turned that into my own little catch phrase to remember that I still can't do everything I was doing four weeks ago.

Thank you for opening doors for me. I hadn't realized how much I missed that small kindness.
